This paper interviews and questionnaires the basic information, agricultural production patterns, children education situation, family incomes and expenditures of 206 rural households in 6 administrative villages from Tongxin County, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region with participatory research methods, in order to analyze the impact of rural households and living environment on children education as well as make reasonable suggestions on managing rural households children more effectively. The followings are main results:1) The household cultural level, family economy, surrounding environment and social atmosphere all have a significant impact on children education. Heads of households, hostess and family members who are educated well and have good living environment, rich economic conditions, fixed income as well as various business types,they may pay more attention to their children education. This is favorable to education of children.2) Family members with a high education degree in villages along the road, parents will communicate more times a week with their children and invest largely in education. Their children also have a good learning situation;immigrant villages and new immigrant villages with wage + business + planting + breeding pluralistic production mode have high and stable income, their children have a relatively good education statue. Hui villages with convenient transportation and along the road villages, their children learning situation is good in total.3) Observing family expenses, the entire household expense is unreasonable. Gifts and housing account for household expenses too large, respectively for 30%-45% and 15%-30% of total household income, while children education only account for 1.8%-9.0% of household expenses.4) It is suggested that rural families members should improve their cultural degree firstly. And then raising a family investment in children education as well as emphasizing the training of children overall quality like moral,intellectual, physical, beauty to make children has a comprehensive development.
