In May 1995, the Internet was introduced to China. Within in only twenty years, new media of various forms is applied in daily life through mobile devices. College students born after 1995, in particular, are influenced by the growing of internet, which is reflected from their value orientations, life style and thinking habits. To analysis the ever changing value orientation of college students, the status quo and the root causes are the prerequisite for the education of socialism core values and the individual value education in high schools.Guided by Marx’s theory of practical philosophy, this thesis studies the value orientation of college students born after 1995. Based on the review of the precious research and theoretical results, the author analyzes the value orientation of 900 college students born after 1995 from three universities in Beijing through the method of interview and questionnaire. The author also discusses about how they are affected by the new media environment. With an insight into the status quo of the value orientation of college students and external influence of new media environment, the author analyzes the causes for the features and confusion of value orientation of college students. In the end, the author advocates that in order to provide guidance to college students for the virtuous development of their value orientation, efforts should be made in the construction of new media environment, the improvement of education quality, and the self-development of college students, so as to keep the value orientation of college students in harmony and balance,and meet the social expectations.Research draws the following conclusions: First,the new media of various forms has affected the way of thinking,learning,lifestyle of college students born after 1995 through the internet and mobile devices. Second, The value orientation of college students should keep a certain balance between the rational and value dimensions, and the formation of the value choice should be consistent with the socialist core values. Third, the value orientation of college students is in good condition as a whole, but in some ways there are still outstanding issues, as confused political beliefs, lack of practice, double standard and so on. Fourth, the new media environment has a dual impact on the formation of the value orientation of college students,which shows in : the highlight of variables and democracy in information consumption, the development of social virtualization trends, changes in social contact and learning. Fifth, keep the dialectical unity in the new media development and the value orientation of university students,and build the following guidance: Strengthen the construction and management of new media to provide a better environment;Build the education system of media literacy and update the methods and content of Ideological and Political Education; Discriminate contradictory relationship between individuals and practice core values.
