Immense advances in network technologies greatly promoted the educational reform. Through the medium of network technologies, distance learning possesses the features of flexible, convenient, personalized and resourceful, which enables people to acquire the needed knowledge efficiently and effectively and to facilitate the realization of lifelong study.Nowadays, the distance learning platform has been built in major colleges and universities in China, which has aroused a special concern regarding how to assess the performance of learner using network distance education. Most of the literatures on the network distance education focus on the aspects of resource construction, online courses design and the establishment of network platform, however, few of them pay close attention to the performance evaluation system of the network distant education.In order to fill this gap, this study establishes a suitable and feasible performance evaluation system of network distant learning by using document analysis, questionnaire survey and empirical research.Firstly, it is essential to realize the progress and to summarize the imperfections of the performance evaluation system of network distance education by analyzing numerous relevant documents. From the respective of learner dimension, online courses dimension and distance platform dimension, this study interprets the collection and screening of related indexes. Secondly, this paper employs the software of SPSS20.0 and AMOS20.0 to analyze the recovered questionnaires from the learners with inquiry experiments and verified experiments, therefore proposes the framework of the performance evaluation system of network distance learning. Thirdly, in order to decide the weight of different indexes and the evaluation criteria, questionnaires are also distributed to the experts to gain their opinions about the grading of different indexes. Lastly, by using the established performance assessment system to evaluate the students in Distance Education School of Beijing Institute of Technology, this paper empirically studies the availability the performance assessment system, then give some suggestions.
