| Starting from the research status of the presidents’ monographic study in universities of our country, this paper organized its historical development. Based on which, it conducted empirical study towards 20 core journals of the higher education like Journal of Higher Education(Wuhan), Research on Education Development(Shanghai), China Higher Education Research(Beijing), Jiangsu Higher Education(Nanjing), Research on Higher Engineering Education(Wuhan), Heilongjiang Researches on Higher Education(Harbin), Modern University Education(Changsha),Higher Education Exploration(Guangzhou), China University Teaching(Beijing),Fudan Education Forum(Shanghai), Modern Education Management(Shenyang),University Education Science(Changsha), Educational Research(Beijing), Peking University Education Review(Beijing), Tsinghua Journal of Education(Bejing),Journal of Higher Education Management(Zhenjiang), Journal of National Academy of Education Administration(Beijing), Theory and Practice of Education(Taiyuan),Journal of Educational Studies(Beijing), Comparative Education Review(Beijing) as well as 423 excellent master and doctor theises in cnki.net during the period2005-2014. Meanwhile, it analyzed the current status of the presidents’ monographic study in universities of our country, combined the results in questionnaire survey and conducted reflection, and attempted to discuss the development tendency of the presidents’ monographic study as well.Firstly, through analyzing the presidents’ monographic study in universities of our country, it found that in recent years the mentioned study presents the following characteristics: seeing from the layer of research contents, such monographic study is featured by dispersibility and diversity; seeing from the layer of research depth, such monographic study has the characteristics such as explicit emphasis, the difficulties remain to be brokethrough and the depth remains to be reinforced; seeing from the layer of research level, the macroscopic research is predominated, the mid-scopic and microscopic research are not enough; seeing from the layer of research groups, such monographic study lacks core author group and its distribution is unbalanced; seeingfrom the layer of research methods, such monographic study has relatively many researches on theoretical speculation and few empirial researches.Secondly, it reflected the current status of the presidents’ monographic study in universities of our country, and the following suggestions have been put forward: in terms of the research contents, research field of view shall be widened, and the successful patterns to the presidents in the developed countries shall be learned; in terms of the research depth, forces shall be concentrated for leading the research to develop in depth and breadth and striving for the achievements with higher quality; in terms of the research level, pay equal attention to macroscopic and microscopic researches, and also the theory shall be combined with practice; in terms of the research groups, the research platforms of the national, local ranks and high-standard professional think tank shall be established; in terms of the research methods, the research methods shall be valued, national conditions shall be kept foothold,pedagogy shall be collaborated with other disciplines, and introduction, development and innovation shall be made. |
