Using the student teachers that majored in biology of Guizhou Normal University graduates as an example, this thesis means to make a research on the student teachers’ role definition and transformation, professional faith in different stages(early, middle and late stages) through questionnaires and interviews. According to the research, the author could get inclusions as follows:1. In the early stage, the student teachers have a more clear and accurate understanding on the role of his/her internship; when they came into the middle stage of internship, some factors like recognition of the teaching profession, teaching ability, training opportunities, handling of interpersonal relations and instruction of the tutor and so on may cause role confusion and role transitional difficulties. It mainly involves the transformation between students and teachers, students and colleagues, teachers and friends. There are still 17.76% of the student teachers cannot adapt to teachers’ roles after a three-month internship. So we find the length of internship, the practice and instruction from the internship has a great influence on it.2. The professional faith of the student teachers has changed before and after the internship. Before the internship, 69.17% of the student teachers will choose to be a teacher. Their identities to the concept of new curriculum standard have up to more than 84.17%. In the process of internship, student teachers have a general and deep understanding of teaching: the attitude towards teaching changes, the professional faith is also influenced by self-ability, role definition and transformation, internship unit and the tutor. But the actual practice on new curriculum standard of student teachers is still not enough. So the combination of practice and cognition need to be enhanced as well as keep the understanding level. In the late stage of internship, the proportion of choosing to be a teacher has hold 51.97% which decreases 17.2% comparing with those in the early stage.3. The role definition and transformation of student teachers have mutual effects on the establishment of professional faith. The role definition and transformation more successful, the establishment of professional faith will be easier. The professional faith stronger, the adaption and fulfillment of role transformation will be faster,vice versa.On the base of problems in roles and faiths of the student teachers, the factors and the interrelations between the two, this thesis will make research from four aspects: training unit, internship unit, the tutor,normal university students and aims to provide effective information and suggestions.
