The headmaster is the soul of the school. The headmaster is also the legal personand responsible of the school. The headmaster can make the school has a sustainedand healthy development. With the development of times and the continuous reformof the basic education, professional development of headmaster has become anirresistible trend of the development of educational. In2013the ministry of educationpromulgated the<The professional standards of compulsory education schools>. It notonly indicates the principal occupation role, but also makes definite provision of theheadmaster’s responsibility. So, in order to achieve the goal of education, headmastershould recognize the role of their own identity and status from complicated socialenvironment and school environment. The headmaster should achieve a high degreeof identity of their own occupation role as soon as possible, thus constantly improvethe professional quality and professional level. Only in this way, the effectivemanagement of school and the quality of running the school can be guaranteed.In order to understand the occupation role of identification of headmasters, thewriter makes deep analysis from three dimensions from the role identity. The threedimensions are role cognition, role emotion and role behavior. This study investigates315headmasters of different schools of ten city of Jilin Province. In addition, thewriter does interviews with four headmasters.The writer know the status of the roleof identity of occupation through these surveys. This study is good for headmasters toraise the consciousness of independent development, professional level and theunique educational level. This text has four parts. The first part is introduction. Thispart presents the background of this study, core concepts, purpose and meaning,research contents and methods and research status. The second part presents thesurvey results.⑴The overall level of the occupation role identity of headmasters isgood, but still need to be improved.⑵The occupation role identity is different whenheadmaster’ work life are different. The third part presents the influencing factors.The last part puts forward some pieces of suggestion to promote the occupation roleidentity and the ability of headmasters.
