Martial arts is a traditional Chinese sports item with profound cultural background as well as regimen philosophy and spiritual element, it is also a treasure of the 5000-year Chinese culture heritage. Today,martial arts not only plays an significant role among sports items within China but also gaining attentions globally. This paper explored insights into the status quo and future development of the teaching of the martial arts for public sports in Xinjiang also gaining attentions globally. This paper applies an array of practise such as referencing, questionaries, experts interviews and mathematical statistics in order to accomplish following objective: 1. Promotes traditional Chinese marital arts across Xinjiang Normal University campus.2. Improve the physical health, overall capabilities and martial arts skill for students enrolled. 3. Enhance the conscious of attacking defending for students enrolled.The following conclusions has been made:1, Xinjiang Normal University public sports optional course of martial arts students have good motives of course, to the martial arts have certain understanding, also very fond of martial arts classes. Students of martial arts foundation is weak, each student’s level is not balanced. Xinjiang Normal University public sports optional course of martial arts due to the geographical location of Xinjiang Normal University in the minority areas, the school students have many minorities, strong martial arts atmosphere, unlike the mainland schools, propaganda is not enough 0.2, Xinjiang Normal University public sports optional course of martial arts and obsolete teaching content, teaching form is too single, dry, lack of martial arts teaching. Ignore the students’ interest and personality, not fully Mobilize the classroom atmosphere, students’ learning enthusiasm is not high. Unreasonable appraisal system, student self exercise consciousness.
