A Research About The Competency Characteristic Of Professional University Counselor Staff

University is a main position in training the ideological and political quality of university students, and to construct a high level counselor staff team is an important way in order to develop university student’s ideological and political quality. The study about the construction of professional university counselor staff team has a fatal research meaning and practical value. We put the concept about competency characteristic into this study to explore the efficient implement of university counselor staff’s selection.In this study, firstly, we used certain research methods, such as literature research, opening interview, and action affair talk and so on, in order to ensure the original elements about the competency characteristic of university counselor staff. Then, managed establishing method about standardized psychology measure questionnaire to edit "University counselor staff competency characteristic questionnaire" (self-report questionnaire), and "University counselor staff competency characteristic questionnaire" (rating questionnaire) processing the research. We used SPSS statistic software carry through independent-samples t test, one way analysis of variance, correlative analysis, factorial analysis and so on to analyze the data from questionnaire in statistics way, so gained the competency characteristic elements about university counselor staff. Furthermore, we combined the interpretive structural model approach in systems analysis to make sure the competency characteristic model of university counselor staff. Finally, after the comparative analysis, we put forward an application about competency characteristic of university counselor staff in the specialized developing background of counselor staff.This study indicates that the "university counselor staff competency characteristic questionnaire" which we designed in our research has a preferable reliability and validity. The investigation result makes clear that competency characteristic of university counselor staff is composed by 6 dimensions and 34 elements. Six dimensions are represented by knowledge structure, comprehensive ability, behavior qualification, political consciousness, understand and respect student, and professional responsibility. The knowledge structure dimension has 5 factors, comprehensive ability dimension has 7 elements, behavior qualification dimension has 6 elements, political consciousness dimension has 6 factors, understand and respect student dimension has 7 factors, and professional responsibility has 3 elements. University counselor staff specialization developing model is established by counselor staff’s competency characteristic. This model is constructed by the recruitment and selection elements of knowledge structure and professional responsibility. This model put the behavior qualification and political consciousness as the main points of training task, and treats the comprehensive ability and understands & respect student as contents of further upgrade and the evaluation.
