LXI is a new instrument bus based on Ethernet, and has broad prospects for development, raised by Agilent at the beginning of 21 st century. 1553 B is a mature bus, widely used in aerospace and military fields. It is designed with double channel redundancy, high reliability. The 1553 B communication module based on LXI designed in this thesis can realize communication between LXI and devices on 1553 B bus.On the basis of serious investigation of related research achievements at home and abroad, this thesis develops a design scheme of 1553 B communication module based on LXI. Hardware of the communication module includes LXI-interface circuit and 1553B-interface circuit mainly. An ARM9 controller, AT91RM9200 of Atmel is the key of LXI-interface circuit. The function of LXI-interface circuit is to achieve communication between the module and host computer. One FPGA, EP2C8Q208 of ALTERA, is the key of 1553B-interface circuit. After in-depth study of 155 B Bus Specification, the function of 1553B-interface is achieved by logic circuit in FPGA that designed using Verilog HDL. By logic circuit, the module is more flexible and development costs. Software of the module includes two parts, Linux-embedded software and PC software. The embedded Linux operating system runs on ARM9 controller. A server program is designed in the controller to communicate with host computer using cable. On the other hand, the server exchanges data with 1553B-interface module through EBI bus of the controller. The PC software includes COM based interchangeable virtual instrument driver(IVI-COM) and a test soft panel. Meanwhile, a Java-based web-control page is designed, according to LXI Standard.At the end of this thesis, each part of the 1553 B communication module based on LXI was tested carefully with good results. The test results show that the theoretical analysis of this module reasonable, the function and technical qualifications are meet the requirements of the design.
