In recent years, along with the development of market economy and the improvement ofpeople’s living standards, the commodity which sold in the market, about70%arequantificational packaging merchandise. The toothpaste is also one of them. The accuracy ofquantificational packaging merchandise’s net weight is not only related to the vital interests ofour customers and consumers, but also related to a company’s image and integrityconstruction. It may even affect the company’s economic profit. If the product’s net weighthas big shortage, the company will receive complaints from the customer and consumer, which will compromise its reputation and loss the trust from consumers. On the contrary, ifthe product’s net weight has large excess, the company will also suffer profit loss. Therefore, obeying the relevant legal and regulatory requirements and improving the net weightmeasurement pass rate, while reducing the excess, is the essential way to enhance thecompany’s market competitiveness and to support its sustainable development. The paper studies the net weight precision of toothpaste from filling line N16in Acompany. At first, based on the analysis on current precision control system of Line N16,thepaper raises two existing problems which need to be studied and solved:1) The net weightfluctuation of toothpaste increases and exceeds the standard limits;2) The average net weightof toothpaste is too high that leads to the increase of the manufacturing cost. Secondly, thepaper identifies the influencing factors and key reasons using a series of quality improvementand statistical analysis theories, finds out the optimal solutions through designed experiments. Finally, the paper verifies the improvement effect by practical production.Via improvement, the standard deviations of net weight in Line N16reduce from0.50gto below0.20g, average net weight matches the setting standard and the manufacturing cost isreduced. At the same time, the study on net weight precision of toothpaste in A company alsohelps companies better understand the practical application of quality improvement theoryand statistical analysis techniques in net weight control, and provides references to otherconsumer products companies on how to establish a scientific net weight precision controlsystem.
