Six Sigma Management is a method for quality control and continuous processimprovement which is very famous in most of global companies. As the developmentof our society and knowledge economy, the requirement for quality control is higherand higher. Companies pursue zero defects and improve their product quality toincrease their competitive ability and market occupancy. Six Sigma Managementprovides a rigorous logic and feasible method for quality control, processimprovement and control. Now, Six Sigma quality management is not only aneffective quality management tool, but also as a culture to be accepted by more andmore companies.This article introduces the history of the development of quality management andthe basic concepts of Six Sigma Management, details each phase of Six Sigma thecore content DMAIC process improvement model, and discusses the significance andnecessity for today’s manufacturing company to implement the Six Sigma qualitymanagement. This article lists the success experience of implementing Six SigmaManagement in semiconductor manufacturer FSL, performs in-depth study andexplanation step by step for DMAIC process improvement mode by elaborating thequality improvement projects with DMAIC method for product defects in FSL, andfully proves the feasibility and effectiveness of the DMAIC in practical application.Thus establish the prestige for Six Sigma Management, and provide valuableexperience for future process improvement projects at the meantime, then make theSix Sigma Management to be more widely promoted to other manufacturing.In this article, many quality control and analysis methods are used in actual case,such as SPC control chart, box-plot chart, Multi-Vari chart, brain storming, FMEA,MSA, DOE and RSM etc, which will provide a reference of using Six Sigma tools inpractical application for future quality improvement projects.
