With the accelerated process of industrialization and information, the leading industrybecame the services from the agriculture and industry in the industrial structure of the wholeworld economy, and the international division of labor led to a transition from the traditionalmanufacturing sector to services with high value-chain link, so the role of service trade hasbecome increasingly prominent in world trade. The service trade competitiveness has becomean important index of evaluating a country’s economic strength. The competitiveness ofservice trade is a major factor judging the level of development of service trade. There aremany factors affecting competitiveness and they have a certain space-time transformationwhich will make the changes with the changes of time and space. China or Japan is animportant member of the Northeast Asian economic zone, and they exist very close economicrelations. It is very important to understand and compare the competitiveness of theSino-Japanese bilateral service trade and research the changing trends and the factorsinfluencing the service trade competitiveness which can enhance the competitiveness ofChina’s service trade, transfer the development mode, accelerate service trade cooperation inEast Asia and further accelerate regional economy. This paper includes five parts and it isorganized as follows:Chapter I: Introduction. This chapter introduces the research background, purpose andsignificance, the research status overview, innovations and deficiencies.Chapter II: Theory of services trade competitiveness. This chapter defines the concept ofservice trade and classification, and introduces the international competitiveness, industrialcompetitiveness and the theoretical basis of this study-Competitive Advantage of Nationswhich is a foundation for the further study.Chapter III: Service trade development situation analysis between China and Japan. Thischapter analyzes the development of Sino-Japanese service trade which mainly includes theanalysis of the development scale, the equilibrium status and the internal industrial structureof service trade. Its purpose is to understand the development state of the external entirety andthe internal structure of the service trade in China and Japan.Chapter IV: The decomposition and comparative studies on Sino-Japanese service trade competitiveness. It uses a constant market share (CMS) analysis which can become asecond-order effects of the service trade export products between China and Japan. Throughthe way, it can calculate three stages between China and Japan, CMS second-orderdecomposition results of the two major categories of service trade, and draw relevantconclusions including the service trade competitiveness decomposition model and datasources, the CMS second-order decomposition results of service trade, consequent of servicetrade competitiveness decomposition in China and Japan.Chapter V: Conclusions and Measures. We can raise targeted suggestions for the specificissues and conclusions of the foregoing analysis which includes mainly the rational allocationof import and export, the internal structure optimization, the transformation of developmentmode.
