Study On The International Competitiveness Of Service Trade In Tianjin

Since the concept of service trade was put out, the world trade in service hasmade rapid development, the status of service trade is rising in every country and thescale of development is increasing, especially the development of the knowledge andcapital intensive service trade. Our country also actively develop the trade in serviceand make some progress, the competitiveness of trade in service is increasing year byyear. As an important port city of northern China, Tianjin also focus on thedevelopment of the service trade and formed some advantage industries with thenational policy guidance and support. But the competitiveness of overall and sectortrade in service is still very backward, it is an urgent problem to improve theinternational competitiveness of trade in service for the city.Based on the above background, this paper focuses on the research of theinternational competitiveness of service trade in Tianjin. On the basis of analysis ofdevelopment of the world service trade and the status of our country’s trade in service,combined with the present development of service trade in Tianjin, this paperanalyzed the important influencing factors about international competitiveness ofservice trade in Tianjin, and then evaluated the status and level of internationalcompetitiveness of service trade and put forward specific policy or suggestion toimprove the international competitiveness of service trade.The first part of this paper introduces the research background and framework ofcontent, methods of research as well as the domestic and foreign research status; Thesecond part elaborated the relevant basic concepts of service trade and internationalcompetitiveness, introduced the theories of international competitiveness in servicetrade, such as the theory of Comparative Advantage, Factor Endowment Theory andtheory of Competitive Advantage and so on, to lay theoretical foundation for thefollowing research; The third part introduced the trend of service trade in Tianjin fromthe aspect of the development scale and speed, then analyzed the gap throughcomparison of the trade in goods,at last introduced the level of development of tradein services through the various departments of Tianjin; The fourth part measured theobjective international competitiveness of service trade in Tianjin through the rate ofthe international market share, trade competitiveness index, revealed comparativeadvantage index and so on; The fifth part is the emphasis of this paper, this part usedProfessor Potter’s competitive advantage theory as the foundation and evaluated thespecific factors that affect the development of service in trade in Tianjin from the following six aspects: factor of production, demand, service sector and relatedindustry, competition concept of the enterprise in service sector, government andopportunity, and then conducted regression analysis for human capital, exports oftrade in goods, output value of service sector, openness of service trade, dwellerincome level and FDI, the result is that the previous four factors are positive factorsaffecting the competitiveness of trade in service, the following two factors’ influenceis smaller. Finally put forward relevant suggestions to enhance the internationalcompetitiveness of service trade in Tianjin on the basis of the previous theoreticalfoundation and empirical analysis.
