In recent years, a variety of supply chain failure events have occurred. Thesepainful lessons force enterprises and scholars to re-examine the current supply chainnetwork, and to study how to make the network more secure and reliable for decreasingboth impact and shock caused by supply chain failures. However, no matter how securethe supply chain network is, it cannot completely avoid natural disasters, operationalaccidents and incidence of human events. For the semiconductor manufacturing industry, its supply chain traits, such ascontinuous outsourcing, globalization, supply chain complexity, delayed informationtransfer and highly volatile market demand, make the supply chain far more vulnerablethan any other supply chain. When facing with supply risks, manufacturing risks, distribution risks and sudden increase in demand, the supply chain of semiconductormanufacturing company is more prone to failure than any other supply chains, forinstance, consumer goods supply chain. In this environment, it is imperative for thesemiconductor manufacturing industry to build a new supply chain that can avoidfailure or disruption, as well as recover rapidly after risk events——the so-calledresilient supply chain. Currently, theory of semiconductor manufacturing supply chainresiliency is very limited; therefore, research on supply chain resiliency in the industryhas both practical significance and application prospects. This dissertation explored the supply chain resilience in semiconductormanufacturing organization from the following six aspects. The first chapter introducesthe research background and significance of this paper, summarizes the currentdomestic and international research, then describes the structure of the paper, andresearch methods. The second chapter describes related theories such as supply chainrisk management, meaning of supply chain resilience and tactics to increase supplychain resiliency, laying a theoretical foundation for the follow-up study. The thirdchapter analyzes the characteristics and risks of the supply chain of semiconductormanufacturing company, and then proposes several ways to avoid supply chain risks ofthe industry, in which emphasizes the importance of the resilience in the supply chain, and proposes indicators to measure resilient performance as well. The fourth chapterfirstly introduces the Y company profile and its global layout, puts forward thehierarchical structure of Y company’s supply chain simulation model; secondly, establishes a four-echelon, three-stage supply chain, consisting of three suppliers, twomanufacturers, a distribution center, two VMI and terminal client areas; thirdly, describes the current operation data of each echelon and defines the simulation data;lastly, demonstrates the established simulation model. The fifth chapter compares the resilient performance indicators when the supplychain is facing soaring demand in two different situations——tactics untaken andtactics taken, as well as summarizes the trend of the performance indicators forresilience. The sixth chapter summarizes the main conclusions and weakness of this wholepaper, and the issues for further study.
