As an important tourist city in the western China, Chongqing has rich tourismresources. Since the territory of Chongqing, the inbound tourism service trade has beendeveloping rapidly. In recent years, Chongqing put forward the goal about creating aninternationally renowned tourist destination. In2013, Chongqing became one of thesecond batch of national cities that implemented72hours transit visa for45countries,which brought Chongqing inbound tourism unprecedented opportunities and challenges.However, Chongqing tourism lacks of awareness, reputation, loyalty and influence athome and abroad, and its market competitiveness is not strong. Besides, it remainslimited that Chongqing inbound tourism service trade accounts in services trade. Thus,for developing Chongqing’s inbound tourism market, enhancing its status and prestigein the international tourism market and seizing the opportunity to create aninternationally renowned tourist destination, it’s particularly necessary to deep analysethe status of Chongqing inbound tourism market and identify the main factors affectinginbound tourism service trade.Based on summarizing a large number of domestic and foreign researches on thebasis of the gravity model, this paper applies the gravity model to the field of tourismservice trade. Considering qualitative analysis of the characteristics of Chongqinginbound tourism and factors affecting the travel needs, this paper selects affectingfactors which contains some new variables like tourism resources, reception level,cultural differences, and whether direct, etc. Then this paper creates the gravity modelof Chongqing City’s inbound tourism service trade after revising the basic gravitymodel. Then this paper empirically analyses the model with panel data, and identifiesvarious factors influencing inbound tourism in Chongqing and their impact degree.Finally, on the basis of empirical research, this paper gives some suggestions on how topromote the development of inbound tourism service trade in Chongqing.The paper draws the following main conclusions. As a destination, the level ofeconomic development of Chongqing and the quantity and quality of tourism resourcesare positive roles in promoting inbound tourism service trade. The economicdevelopment of tourism source region is a larger drive to inbound tourism, but the totalpopulation shows a negative correlation. Belong to interaction between the two sides,the economic distance and unexpected events play a significant inhibition. The degree that how the two sides depend on each other in economies is closely correlated to theinbound tourism service trade. Besides, whether direct route is open also has animportant impact. Finally, according to the research findings, this paper proposes thefollowing recommendations. Strengthen economic development in Chongqing, continueto deepen the level of opening, construct and update the focus scenic, locate the mainsource markets like developed countries accurately, while build efficient inboundtourism channel by integrating resources, and establish tourism crisis responsemechanisms.
