Tourism service trade is one of the fastest growing trade in the world’s economy,with an average growth rate of 10% per year, significantly higher than other value-added industries, which means tourism service trade facing huge development opportunities. Sichuan province has always been known as "Land of Abundance", with the country and the world-class rare natural and cultural tourism resources, but compared with the other developed domestic tourism service trade provinces,the number of inbound-tourism traveler and tourism foreign exchange earnings in Sichuan Province does not match its owned tourism resources and has still a long way to go.This paper aims at exploring the level of competitiveness of the Sichuan provincial tourism service trade through the comparison and analysis with the other domestic areas,and gives further advice on enhancing the competitiveness of Sichuan tourism service trade.In this paper,based on the review and summary of the research literature about the competitiveness of tourism industry both at home and abroad, it gives a comprehensive and qualitative analysis on present development situation of tourism service trade in Sichuan province on the basis of a series of detailed data, including the current feature and shortage,then uses the MS index (and its complementary indicator) and RCA index to give a quantitative analysis from two dimensions in absolute quantity and relative quantity and give a transverse comparison with the other provinces in China, which means to discuss the real and potential competitiveness of Sichuan’s inbound tourism service trade. On the reference of Crouch & Ritchie model, this paper explores the influence factors of the competitiveness on inbound-tourism service trade in Sichuan province, and puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions for its further development.
