With the development of our national economy, social life level of people has been generallyimproved, work orientation of workers has gradually shifted to the meaning orientation. Sowork value, work meaning and other aspects of the problem has aroused people’s thinking,the influence of work orientation on the behavior of the individual is also more and morecaused attentions by our academic and management circles. Foreign research shows thatwork orientation has important effect on the performance.However, in China the conclusionof the relationship is controversial, their mechanism of action is not clear.In this study, taking IT professionals as the research object,using independent samples T testand structure equation model analysis on the318valid questionnaires, to investigate theeffect of demographic variables on each variable,value orientation inspection effect onemployee performance and the mediated role of job involvement. Conclusions of the studyare as follows:(1) Work orientation of IT professionals have some differences in demographic variables.Among them, Work orientation has significant difference in age, education and position,there was no significant difference in gender, marital status and income.(2)Work orientation,career and calling of IT professionals have significant positive influenceon employee performance and its two dimentions. Job has significant positive influence ontask performance,but not on contextual performance.(3)Work orientation,job,career and calling of IT professionals have significant positiveinfluence on job involvement.(4) Job invovement of IT professionals is a significant predictor of employee performanceand its two dimentions.(5)Job involvement of IT professionals plays a partially intermediary role between workorientation and employee performance.Eventually, this paper provides some suggestions about managing work orientation andincrease job involvement of IT professionals in order to decrease their job involvement andperformance efficiently.
