Nowadays, project management theory in academia is gradually extended to study onproject management of Complex Product Systems (Complex Product Systems, referredCoPS) and program management. WBS (Work Breakdown Structure, WBS), as animportant tool for project management, can help enterprises to conduct their working-leveldecomposition with deliverables-oriented (products, information and services, etc.) andsupport their planning, management, and coordination work effectively. CloudManufacturing then provides a new way of thinking to the alliance development ofComplex Product Project Management in the future. Therefore, the obtainment of the workbreakdown structure (WBS) in cloud manufacturing environment is the premise of theachievement of Complex Product Project Management which is based on cooperation andthe design and optimization of the work breakdown structure (WBS) is a key part of thecomplex product systems management process.Based on extensive literature review, this paper analyzes the demand of the formationand optimization of Complex Product Project WBS, studies the paths to forming WBS incloud manufacturing environment and its influencing factors, puts forward an optimizationmethod for the existing enterprises WBS based on DSM and sets up an enterprises WBSmodel based on the extended DSM, aiming at promoting the realization of the strategicdevelopment of alliance enterprises and improving the efficiency of complex productproject tasks and shorten the project cycle..First of all, this paper analyzes the paths to forming WBS in cloud manufacturingenvironment consists of three aspects, such as basic demand, motive power and guaranteeof formation. Furthermore, by constructing the models of BKG and collecting data by aquestionnaire survey, this paper sets the weighting parameters for each index. Based on theresearch results, this paper analyzes the ability of the manufacturing enterprises to formingWBS and points out the factors and causes which restrain these enterprises from formingWBS. Finally, this paper puts forward a variety of specific measures and suggestions forthe formation of WBS in the future.Secondly, based on the former researches, this paper studies the method of WBSoptimization based on DSM and describes the clustering algorithms of WBS model basedon row-column transform. Furthermore, this paper defines the contact information flow between tasks and developed the evaluation and selection algorithms of clustering results.This paper also used the Monte Carlo simulation method to solve the above model, bycalculating the sum of the contact information flow of all the work breakdown structureclustering results under different division of the complex product project to get the bestwork breakdown optimization program.Finally, based on the questionnaire data about the status of shipbuilding industryenterprise WBS, this paper also validates the feasibility of WBS modeling, clusteringdivision and the evaluation and selection. In a word, this paper provides a new method andthought for the practical application during the enterprise complex product managementprocess in the future.In conclusion, research on WBS optimization of complex product project based onDSM is of some theoretical significance to analyze enterprises work breakdown situation incloud manufacturing environment, promote the realization of the strategic development ofalliance enterprises, improve the efficiency of complex product project tasks and shortenthe project cycle.
