Nevertheless, Most of the medium/small sized enterprises are still strugglingto survive through applying innovation in replication and reformation. The article will reveal someaspects of medium/small sized enterprises’ technology innovation under current economic andsocial environment by taking Ningbo Donly transmission equipment co.,ltd.(Donly) as an example.Through investigating the history of technology innovation together with current performance andfuture strategies of this typical medium sized Chinese equipment manufacture enterprise, hopefullythe knowledge obtained from the one single firm can be utilized by others of similar background.Through the study of direct and indirect performance of technology innovation of Donlybetween the year2005and2012and taking into consideration the domestic technology innovationperformance index, the article has come up with a new technology innovation performanceevaluation system that well suits Donly ltd. according to its practical situation. In order to interpretthe strengths and weaknesses of technology innovation performance index of Donly, everynumerical detail was collected and the data was analyzed through CCR modeling and comparedagainst the quality of innovation technology performance of other equipment manufactureenterprises at the corresponding periods. The conclusion of the study is that the direct technologyinnovation performance of Donly did not reach the industrial average level, whereas the indirecttechnology innovation performance has been steadily improving after a periods of lag in output.The major reason for the underperformance in technology innovation for Donly is attributed to theoverly devoted human resources and capital input during the company expansion period between2006and2009. From the study, the author has come up with a number of suggestions andstrategies for Donly to keep growing in technology innovation and hopefully the research couldalso be applied to other medium/small sized private equipment manufacture enterprises.
