Regional economic collaboration is one of the most important tendencies ofinternational economy and trade in this century. Almost every country unavoidably hasbeen taking part in it with the major form of establishing RTA. In the meanwhile, more andmore countries resort to anti-dumping actions as a consequence of the trade liberalizationmaking traditional trade barriers old fashion. Anti-dumping has been deemed as the mostimportant weapon for trade protection. Regional economic collaboration and anti-dumpinghas become the two most important issues of international trade development. This paper aims at analyzing the anti-dumping provisions of RTA, finding therelationship between the RTA anti-dumping provisions and anti-dumping actions betweenRTA members, as well as the strategic recommendation for Chinese future RTAnegotiations. Firstly, the paper traces the relevant theories of regional economiccollaboration and anti-dumping and the existing research on this problem. Secondly, weconclude and classify all kinds of anti-dumping provisions of the entire signed RTA worldwhile. Then, we explore the factors influencing the designing of anti-dumping provisionsand theoretically explain the inhibiting effect of anti-dumping provisions to anti-dumpingactions between members. Thirdly, the paper reviews Chinese RTA practice and the signedanti-dumping provisions. Through the empirical research with the count data model, weunexpectedly find China facing more anti-dumping actions from the members after signingRTA. In order to further analyze this abnormal result, we use NAFTA as a model to do thesame kind of empirical research and compare the result with Chines RTA’s. As writer, Ithink the possible reasons for the difference between empirical results and relevant theoriesregarding RTA of China include: weak inhibiting effect of the design for the terms inChina RTA’s anti-dumpling provisions considering the young age of RTA; the memberssharing the same kind of industrial and trade structure with China causing significant shocks to domestic markets since the agreement is made; the surge of import from Chinaleading to the members’ more attention to anti-dumping’s safety valve faction;somemembers (e.g. Indian and Korea) keen on taking anti-dumping actions. Last but not theleast, the paper makes recommendations dealing with Chinese future anti-dumping issue. Not only should we reinforce the designing of anti-dumping provisions in the future RTAnegotiations, but also establish the long-term strategy coping with anti-dumping.
