The Research Of The Structure And Evolution In World Iron Ore Trade Network

The international iron ore trade system is a complex system. The flow of iron oreresources trade forms the international iron ore trade network. Using the method ofcomplex network can reflect the structure of supply and demand of iron ore trade.And we are able to describe the iron ore trading network, understand its structuralcharacteristics and analyze the role of trade body position in the iron ore trade.Firstly, this article analysis the world’s iron ore resources, supply and demandstructure, trade patterns. The current world iron ore is mainly exported by Australia,Brazil, India and other countries to China, Japan, the EU. On this basis, throughabstraction of the international iron ore trade market, the paper applies the complexnetwork theory to build a network of international iron ore trade. We measure andcalculate the small world property, scale features, and the role and status of thecountries in international iron ore trade. The results show that the international ironore trade network has a shorter average path length, but a small clustering coefficient.So this trade network does not have the small-world property. With estimates of theiron ore trade distribution, the network is not typical scale-free networks, import tradeis more heterogeneous than the export trade. With the central role indicator todetermine the status of network nodes, the major import and export countries of theiron ore have occupied a central position in the trade network. Then we buildinternational iron ore trade weighted network, and analyze its degree distribution,clustering coefficient. The results show that the weighted trade network is not atypical scale-free networks and clusters is poor. In the research of Iron ore tradenetwork core-periphery structure, a major exporter of iron ore from Australia, Brazil,India and a major importer of Chinese, Japanese are long-term in the network corearea, the number of countries in the half edge region is not high, most countries are intrade edge area.Based on problems that China is facing in the iron ore trade which include theincreasing demand for iron ore, the insufficient domestic mine supply and themonopolization of the foreign mining companies, this paper researches the iron oretrade network. By coming to the structural characteristics and morphology, this paperhopes to provide a reference for China’s iron ore import strategy.
