Laos is a developing country, whose economy depends heavily on agricultural, forestry, energy and mining. In the aspect of development of agroforestry, Laos’ products are mainly composed of natural and semi-natural goods, and subsistence agriculture still accounts for half of the GDP and provides80%of employment. The application of advanced technology in agricultural and forestry is still in its stage of development. Although Laos is rich in mineral resources, forest resources, water resources, tourism resources, the science and technology, capital, talent resources are relatively scarce.In the construction of China-ASEAN free trade area, the trade relations between Laos and China are very important.Coordinate bilateral trade between the two countries policy will powerfully promote bilateral trade and economic and technical cooperation, to strengthen the construction of China-ASEAN free trade area and Lancang-Mekong sub-regional economic cooperation.In2011, the two countries signed "The Joint Declaration" on bilateral cooperation, which laid a good foundation for long-term stability, good-neighborly friendship and mutual trust relationship of all-round cooperation between Laos and China.But the research on strategy of bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two countries did not get the attention they deserve, and it does not have a clear development direction of economic and trade cooperation.According to the above problems, the thesis demonstrates the bilateral trade relations and technical cooperation based on based on the theory of free trade theory, the international economic coordination, comparative advantage theory, sub-regional economic cooperation theory. Secondly, this thesis discusses the trade relations problems between the two countries; Analyses the current situation of the development of import and export trade between the two countries, using the trade competitiveness index to analysis their comparative advantage and close relations between the two countries. Thirdly, the paper adopts the empirical analysis to study the impact of the trade between Laos and China on Laos GDP. At last, the thesis make some suggestions to promote bilateral economic and trade cooperation.
