Research On The Development Of Chemical Fertilizer Industry In China

Agriculture development and quality of ecological environment was strongly affected by chemicalfertilizers. Healthy development of chemical fertilizer industry played important role in gauareteeingfood security and sustainable agriculture of China. Market survey, data collection and analysis wascarried out in this research to illustrate the present status and market demand of chemical industry inChina, and the issues and challenge which this industry would confront in the future was also stated.Accordingly, some policy proposals for chemical industry development are given finally. This workprovided valuable information for sustainable development of the whole chemical industry. Theconclusions were as follow:The development and properties of chemical fertilizer industry in China included:(1) The output ofchemical fertilizers increased quickly which have been in the world front rank, the application rates ofchemical fertilizer in total and per unit area have already been in a world’s higher level;(2) There wasgreat variation in the composition of chemical fertilizers, the application rate of compound fertilizersand potassium fertilizers increased with each passing year, on the contrary, the demand of nitrogenfertilizer shrunk significantly;(3) The competition of chemical fertilizer market was increasinglyvigorous, each production and marketing enterprise tried to improve and expand their sales;(4) Theequipment and technology of the whole industry promoted markedly, meanwhile, the industrialconcentration improved and industrial layout became better,(5) The security of resource for chemicalfertilizers production was available, which provided fundamental materials;(6) On the premise ofsafeguarding domestic supplies, the chemical industry positively engaged in the international market.Deficiency in our chemical industry showed: First, the layout of chemical industry needed to beoptimized, and advanced production technology was required. Secondly, although the composition ofchemical fertilizers product have showed a trend of diversified development, it also need improvement.Thirdly, our industry was lagging far behind some other developed countries in marketing mode andservice concept. Lastly, chemical fertilizers production and inappropriate application resulted indestruction of ecological environment.Since there are many deficiency and problems in the chemical fertilizer industry, some politicalsuggestion was given. First of all, with the price of raw materials increased, as well as the nationalpreferential policies in chemical fertilizer industry gradually cancelled, chemical fertilizer enterprisesshould cut down the cost and extend the industrial chain of production to ensure sustainabledevelopment of the whole industry. Secondary, in order to produce high quality chemical fertilizers, thechemical fertilizer industry has to improve and optimize the composition of chemical fertilizer productsand learn advanced technology from other countries. Thirdly, the combination between chemicalfertilizer production enterprises and distributors should be enforced and accelerated. Finally, focusingon the research of environmental friendly fertilizer products and realize these products approach tomarket as soon as possible.
