Effects Of Different Forestry Operation Methods On Farmers’Income In China Southern Collective Forest Area

Agriculture is important in China. Affecting people’s livelihood in the society, theproblems related to agriculture, rural areas and farmers are the foundation for the social andeconomic development. Currently the key problem in the works of agriculture, rural areas andfarmer is concentratively reflected in the income of farmer. To increase farmers’ income so asto encourage their internal impetus and guarantee their property safety, is the basic foundationfor achieving an all-round better off society in the rural areas and thus gradually advancing to ahigher level of richness. Therefore, the research in increasing the farmers’ income has been ahot issue in recent years.Now the collective forest tenure system reform in Fujian has been moving to aquality-enhancing phrase. In the background of the collective forest tenure system reform, withFujian Province as the subject, this study is elaborating with a focus on the increasing offorestry-related income of the farmers. Base on the current reality of Fujian forestry, drawingon the existing research, the effects of farmers’ selection on different forestry operation methodwhen engaged in the forestry production and management activities were systematicallyresearched, the influence factors were analyzed, and the establishing of long-term mechanismfor increasing their income was explored in this study, which has great academic and realisticsignificance in solving the problems relating agriculture, rural areas and farmer, and promotingthe comprehensive, harmonious and continuously development in forest regions.In this study, the sayings regarding the farmers’ income growth in the economic growththeory, development economics and sociology were firstly summarized, then the developmentand changes of Fujian forestry since the reform and opening up were reviewed, and thechanges and characteristics of forest farmers’ income in Fujian since the collective foresttenure system reform since2002were researched on. Next, the reasons of using forestry outputvalue to stand for the farmers’ income relating to forestry were demonstrated. Based on a large amount of data in Statistics Yearbook and special investigation, the models composed of maincompartments of farmers’ income related to forestry from industries of agriculture, forestry,husbandry and fishery were established, and the Pearson relativity testing was carried on, sothe effecting relativity of different forest farmers’ production and operation method on theincome relatied to forestry was concluded. Thus the conclusion of vigorously developping theunder-wood industry is the most obvious factor to affect the forest farmer’s income was drawedon. The realistic reasons of the factors were analyzed. Finally the suggestions to establish thelong-term mechanism for increasing forest farmer’s income were proposed, i.e.: to train newtype of farmers, to continuously deepen the collective forest tenure system reform, to developthe forestry industry, to promote the green growth, to enlarge the input of forestry fund..
