Exhibition Industry includes two important parts, Exhibition and Convention, whichis known as the “sunrise industry” in the21st century. As an emerging service industry, ithas act the wide impact and radiated outward. A good exhibition or convention could bringgreat influences to many related industries, such as the food and beverage, transportation,tourism, advertising, accommodation, communications, etc. Exhibition economy hasgradually become a new growth point of the world economy, and brings the economic andsocial benefits for national and regional areas. Since the1990s, China’s exhibition industrygrows with an average rate of20%for an annual, but still lags behind the developedcountries.As the most professional exhibition hall in Suzhou and with its own advantages,Suzhou International Expo Center leads the development of the city’s economic, political,cultural, and other fields through constantly creating the exhibition and convention brands.In this paper, it will analyze the problems, and propose the effective solutions anddevelopment ideas for Suzhou International Expo Center through discussing thedevelopment trend of the domestic and foreign areas. As a result, it reveals thedevelopment potential of Suzhou International Expo Center.This paper is divided into six parts. The first chapter describes the background, meanings,purposes, methods and ideas of the research. The second chapter explains the concepts andmeanings associated with the exhibition and convention, presents the theoretical basis andconducts the literature reviews. The third chapter analyses the development environment andpresent situation of Suzhou International Expo Center through the comparative study on thedevelopment of the exhibitions and conventions at home and abroad. The fourth chapterfocuses on SWOT analysis of Suzhou International Expo Center, including the strengths,weaknesses, opportunities and threats. According to the problems, the fifth chapter summarizesthe correct strategies for the development of Suzhou International Expo Center from four aspects to lead the exhibition industry to a healthy and orderly development. The last chapter isthe conclusion of the paper.
