Since the reform and opening up, China’s overall economic development hasalways maintained a rapid development and the income of urban and rural residentscontinues to increase. But it is worth noting that over the same period of urban andrural residents in China’s consumption rate is not synchronized growth but continuesto decrease, especially the shortage of rural residents consumption, consumption gapbetween urban and rural residents widening year by year. This not only objectivelyrestricts the development of economy in different regions of China, but also causes acertain degree of negative impact to create the social stability of our country andharmonious society.Based on the study of micro consumer behavior as the basic starting point, drawingthe relevant research results at home and abroad, according to the theory ofconsumption economics, starting from the essence of consumption gap, theconsumption gap between urban and rural residents theoretical framework isestablished; relying on the Qingdao statistics yearbook data, regression analysismethods to study consumption gap between urban and rural residents in Qingdao City, the mechanism and effect factors using multiple linear; to narrow the gap betweenurban and rural residents in the consumption policy system. The expected results notonly in theory can enrich the consumption gap between urban and rural residentstheory content, but can provide reference for scientific formulation of narrowing thegap between urban and rural residents of consumer policy in practice. The results show that: first, analysis from the consumption gap between urban andrural residents theoretical framework can be seen that the formation of consumptiongap between urban and rural residents is the comprehensive effect of consumercharacteristics and environmental factors. Among them, consumer income, consumercharacteristics includes age structure of the population and consumer attitudes and other factors; environmental factors are divided into the price, interest rates, the levelof economic development, the level of financial development. Second, learning fromthe general situation, the consumption gap between urban and rural residents in recentyears, the overall level of consumption of urban and rural residents in Qingdao Citycontinues to improve and the structure of consumption further optimizes. Though theconsumption structure of basic category are shrinking, but the consumption gapbetween urban and rural residents is widening year by year; Qingdao urban residentsof different income groups in the consumption level and consumption structure aresignificant differences, a serious imbalance in income and consumption of differentincome groups. Third, empirical research found that the data of Qingdao City, allvariables are significant. According to the influence degree of decreasing order:concept of consumption, the level of interest rates, the level of financial development, the price level, income level, consumption policy, population age structure, economicdevelopment level. Thus, the maximum influence degree on the consumption gapbetween urban and rural residents is consumption concept and the minimum degreeis level of economic development.According to the above research conclusion, to better reduce the consumption gapbetween urban and rural residents, and further promote the coordinative developmentbetween urban and rural economy, we should focus on the following four aspects: first, strengthen the training, try to increase the income of the farmers; second, improve thesocial security system, promote the coordinated development of urban and rural areas;third, deepen the reform of rural consumption, improve the consumption environmentin rural areas; fourth, increase consumer guide, change the consumption concept.
