According to the data, the major in Education Economics and Management is fully established among the universities since its inception in1997. The scale of enrollment is gradually expanded. In the universities located in Guangxi, Education Economics and Management is developed gratefully, which has been cultivated more than500graduate students by three master spots. Therefore, there is a need to sort out the postgraduate dissertations related to majors in universities.Dissertation is not only the comprehensive test for the graduate, but also the reflection of professional research ability and the level of professional development. It is obvious that dissertation plays an important role in graduate training and professional development. Unfortunately, the quality of postgraduate dissertations is declining in recent years. Therefore, we should look for the breakthrough point to take measures to reverse the downward trend in the quality of dissertations. To some extent, the quality of dissertation is closely related to the topic. A good dissertation topic is an important safeguard to the quality. However, choosing the topic is not an easy thing.Based on the theoretical and practical difficulty of choosing topic, this study extracted all236master theses during the2010-2012in the major of Guangxi Higher Education Economics and Management and conducted multi-dimensional quantitative and qualitative analysis for those236theses. This study hopes to outline the common features, identify problems, discover the laws and learn experience from those topics.Studies have shown that there are following eight characteristics:(1) redundancy in applied research and lack of research in basic type;(2) emphasis on education management but light on direction of education economics;(3) emphasis on macro research but light on microscopic study;(4) strong on public education but weak on private education;(5) enthusiasm on school education and higher education research but neglect on family education, social education and basic education research;(6) emphasis on urban education light on rural education;(7) busy on domestic education research but free on international education research;(8) redundancy in traditional topics but lack of novel themes.This study also found that there are following five problems:(1) lack of balance;(2) utilitarian;(3) weak awareness of existing problems;(4) lack of innovation;(5) serious repetition. After analyzing those features and issues in-depth, I found that affecting factors are very complex. In this study, the author discussed six factors from "reflective depth professional development" perspective. Finally, based on the analysis above, this study advised eight recommendations from the point of "enhancing the height of professional development".
