Study On The Influence Of Enterpirse Managers’ Political Skills On Career Success

Organization is a natural political arena. In order to achieve personal goals, peoplesometimes use some political strategy or behaviors to try to persuade, influence and controlothers in the organization. Only some people’s political behavior will be succeed, Pfefferthink it is because of differences in political skills led to different outcomes of politicalbehavior, political skill is one of the essential ability of the individual gaining success inthe organization. Managers are the main core in the corporation, concerning their careersuccess which not only very important to their own, but also to the organization. As therole and working nature of managers, their career success are more likely to be influencedby political skills. Based on this, the paper attempt to research the impact of political skillson career success.Based on the domestic and foreign existing literature, the paper defines the conceptand dimensions of political skill and career success, and build the research model. Theresearch shows that the self-developed dimension has a good reliability and validity. Bypre-tested, it is proved that the research of the questionnaire has good reliability andvalidity. Then the manager of Jiangxi province are investigated, collecting back the237valid questionnaires. Empirical research method are used showing that manager’s politicalskills has a significant effect on career success and the five dimensions of political skills(harmonious interpersonal, situation alertness, face operation, power apply, networkingability), in addition to the face operation, the other four dimensions have positiveinfluences on career success in both subjective and objective side.
