Industrial structure is the basis of economic growth, and also is the essence carrier of the labor force. A country or a region’s healthy economic development needs to be built on the coordination of industrial structure and employment, in essence which requires the rational allocation of resources. Research on industrial structure evolution can not only master the macroeconomic trends, but also can predict the micro employment situation, which will have an important guiding significance in making employment policies.Nowadays, China’s rapid economic growth does not bring the coordinated development of employment. The employment problems are not only about the number of labor supply, but also about the mismatching structure of supply and demand. Upgrade of industrial structure will inevitably cause the employment problem, for instance, it’s harder for university students to find jobs, labor shortage in the southeast coastal cities. As one of the most developed area in China, the number of the demand for labor in the Yangtze River Delta regions large and has a wide range. After years of development, the upgrading of industrial structure in this region has changed the original employment development path. The result shows that the development of the secondary industry and tertiary industry employment effect on the Yangtze river delta region are negative, which reflects the rapid development and upgrading of industrial structure in Yangtze river delta has brought employment destructive impact. Finally, based on the results of theoretical and empirical study, the dissertation gives some policy recommendations for the Yangtze River Delta region from the industries development, industrial organization, and labor market in order to strengthen the positive employment effects of industrial structure.
