This paper introduces the background of international operation of Yunnan Power Grid Corporation (hereinafter refers as YNPG), reviews the10years of international operation course of YNPG, and summarizes the major problems during the international operation course of the company. Under the strategy of constructing Yunnan Province as the Bridgehead facing the South Asia and Southeast Asia, YNPG will obtain more policy supports during the electricity power cooperation in GMS, and the international operation of YNPG will face a broader prospect. Concerning these facts, it would be necessary for YNPG to study the international strategy system to ensure the international operation proceeded rationally.Based on the analysis on international operation theory, this paper concluded the general law of transnational enterprise development. By studying the famous power enterprises’ situation of international strategy implementation,.this paper also concludes the critical issues that power companies should pay attention to during their international operation process. Furthermore, aiming at the main target market of international operation of YNPG, it analyzes the macro economy as well as the development of electric industry of Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand. Through the analysis on the business condition and target market of YNPG, combined the international operation theory and the experiences and lessons of international operation of power companies, the international strategic objectives, strategic positioning and the strategic pattern of YNPG are proposed. Lastly, it gives out some suggestions for the existing problems.
