Yunnan province is a China's important land access to Southeast Asia and South Asia, which is border on Vietnam, Laos, Burma, adjacenting to two huge international market, the ten countries with about 5 million people in Southeast Asia and seven countries with about 13 million people in South Asia. Yunnan province has a unique geographical advantage and an important strategic position, connecting to Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Pan-Pearl River Delta and Yangtze River, which decides we should make the most of it's advantage to create the most dynamic open province in land border.Promoted by regional economic integration, optimal use of energy resources, improve reliability, the regional electricity market and other factors, the power cooperation between Yunnan province and the neighboring countries are increasingly close. Research on power cooperation between Yunnan province and the neighboring countries in advance is necessary in order to promote Yunnan province becomes an exchange hub in the Greater Mekong Subregion, a power trading platform and an international electricity market..This paper summarizes the information and the effect of the electricity cooperation with the neighboring countries and analyses the problems of the cooperation started form analyses the current situation of grid interconnection between Yunnan Province and neighboring countries based on the research on power demand of the neighboring countries and the environment for cooperation. This paper also proposes the measures and proposals about promoting further corporation between Yunnan and the neighboring countries combining author's own working experience. This paper has reference value, to some extent, in promoting the electricity corporation between Yunnan province and the neighboring countries.
