Liaoning Coastal Economic Belt is located in the northern area devoid of water. With thespeeding up of urbanization and industrialization, the need for water resource increasesaccordingly. Besides, the water pollution is deteriorated. These factors lead to the shortage ofwater resource in Liaoning Coastal Economic Belt, which has become an important factor thatconstrains the sustainable socio-economic development. Therefore, to solve the problem ofwater shortage and economic increasing in Liaoning Coastal Economic Belt is the key toachieve the interactive development of regional development.Guided by the theories of sustainable development and regional harmoniousdevelopment, this subject analyses the situation of water resource as well as thesocio-economy. It analyses the sustainable development of water resources and economy inLiaoning Coastal Economic Belt. This subject starts from three aspects, namely, theevaluation index system for water shortage risk, water utilization efficiency, driving factorleading to shortage of water resource and the coupling coordination degree between waterutilization efficiency and economy.Firstly, this subject is based on the situation of water resource and the socio-economy inLiaoning Coastal Economic Belt, and it analyses in detail the relative research about waterresource and sustainable economic development from home and abroad. It uses the researchresults and experiments as the theoretical basis.Secondly, this subject starts from the aspects of water resources system andsocio-economic system, and analyses the water utilization and socio-economic situation inLiaoning Coastal Economic Belt in detail.Thirdly, based on the theoretical research, this subject combines the situation in LiaoningCoastal Economic Belt, aiming to build up the evaluation index system for water shortage riskas well as the models used to evaluate the level of water shortage risk in Liaoning CoastalEconomic Belt.Fourthly, the models are used to measure the factors that cause water resources shortagein Liaoning Coastal Economic Belt. From the aspect of changes in the water utilization,through the quantitative analysis of the influence and functions for water resources shortage produced by factors, the main factors causing water resources shortage are decided by thecontribution order.Fifthly, his subject evaluates comprehensively the water utilization and economicsituation in Liaoning Coastal Economic Belt.
