Along with the rapid development of outdoor advertising in the city, its place inthe city image molding also becomes more and more important. In this paper, basedon the outdoor advertisement and city image for a simple overview, draw lessons fromforefathers’ research results about the city’s image and outdoor advertising, studyingthe relation between the two, to explore Urumqi city outdoor advertisement and cityimage shaping, through the exploration on the outdoor advertising design andmanagement, to improve the Urumqi city image. Due to Urumqi city outdooradvertising, higher return on investment, higher profit and so on factors make itsdevelopment is rapid, but also appeared in the development of some bad phenomena,such as outdoor advertising is too many, the quality is poor, outdoor advertisingplanning and set unreasonable and so on lead to adverse effects of Urumqi city image.Through outdoor advertising in the aspect of function, vision, culture affects the cityimage specific analysis, summed up the image of the city of shape on the principle ofinstalling outdoor advertising planning. Systematic analysis about the presentsituation of Urumqi outdoor advertising, to Urumqi outdoor advertising art, culturalcharacteristics, management status and so on carries on the analysis, summarized itsexistence. Outdoor advertising of Urumqi different locale observation research,concrete analysis for concrete problem. Use of outdoor advertising for Urumqi cityimage development strategy is put forward, by increasing the outdoor advertising topromote the image of the government image and the city, such as publicity Urumqicity culture, city spirit of propaganda, etc; And how in Urumqi large conferenceactivities, outdoor advertising play a good role to promote the city image. Makerecommendations on Urumqi outdoor advertisement and city image shaping, onmicroscopic for commercial and culture area, leisure area, urban outdoor advertisingwindow area was analyzed; Urumqi outdoor advertising on macro exploring artistic,commercial, public welfare, according to the principle of in harmony with theenvironment, as well as in outdoor advertising technology and creative innovation, toimprove the image of the city proposed countermeasures.The paper by combining with the realities of outdoor advertising in Urumqi,analyzed the factors influencing the image of the city, put forward some suggestion toimprove the image of the Urumqi city.
