Outdoor advertisement is almost the earliest form of advertisement in the world. Itcould be a platform for information dissemination and influence the point view ofpolitics, economics and culture of common people and improve the techniquesadvanced vastly, which could promote the development of one city, especially foroperation the economic and cultural function in a society. As the important phenomenonin the progress of urbanization, based on dissemination, outdoor advertisement has thevalue to form regional culture, present the national disposition, broadcast theinformation of business, decorate the natural environment and show the time spirit andso on, it could contain the cultural symbol and have the impact on displaying the imageof one city. From the open and reform in China, outdoor advertisement developedspeedily as the development of economics so fast. While2008Olympic Games and2010World Expo opened the international business for the Chinese advertisementindustry, outdoor advertisement also stepped forward with this opportunity largely,presented the Chinese style. Nowadays the outdoor advertisement development hasmany problems in management, regulations, designs and other aspects without ascientific and integral system.This text emphasized on the urban function of outdoor advertisement, firstly, itanalyze the advantage of the outdoor advertisement using in the modern informationdissemination, its extensional function for construction the urban image, explain theinfluence of the outdoor advertisement is not only beautifies the city but also build theimage of the city, there is a close relationship between them; secondly, this text take theoutdoor advertisement in Chongqing as an example, analyze the current situation ofoutdoor advertisement in Chongqing and also the image of Chongqing, pointed out theproblems of the technology development, management stipulation, industrialdevelopment and the artistic effects, promote the suggestions and countermeasures tothe management of the advertisement department for the designers and proprietors inadvertisements industry as well as the appeals subjects for advertisement, to improvethe quality of the ads making and promote the whole city developed actively. The aim isto add the beauty for the city and build a good city image.
