Risk is everywhere and at all times. Risk and risk management have attracted the unprecedented valuewith the outbreak of the financial crisis in2008, which triggered a global economic recession. The risksfrom supply chain might be increasing with the shrinking of global market, requirement uncertainty,acceleration of renovation as well as life cycle of production shortens. Amounts of Chinese originalequipment manufacturers are facing rigorous risks and challenges. Characteristics of manufacturingindustry determine purchasing is not only an important part of supply chain, but also an important source ofcorporate profits. As we know, purchasing is the beginning of production and operation, which is closelyrelated to logistics and capital. It is crucial for enterprises how to control risk and improve efficiency withscientific methods and techniques, which is critical to keep healthy development and improve thecompetitiveness in the fierce competition.The article studies risks in process of purchasing base on risk management and purchasingmanagement. To C company as a case, both the method of combination of theoretical and empirical studyand the qualitative and quantitative analysis are adopted to analyses all risks from purchasing process. Thearticle focuses on analyzing the status and problems of risk management of purchasing of C company. Thenit provides effective methods and improvement strategy to control risks in purchasing.There are four chapters in this article. In the first part, it describes the background and significance ofthe topic and introduces the research status of purchasing risk management at home and abroad. The secondpart introduces the theory of risk management and purchasing management, which is the theoretical basisof the article. The third chapter analyzes the specific risks in purchasing of C company through riskidentification and risk assessment combined with the notebook ODM industry and C company purchasingmanagement status. The chapter four provides some solutions to C company to decrease risks and improvepurchasing efficiency. The system of purchasing risk management must be built and strengthened to againstrisks. At last, it summarizes the insufficiency and the approaching prospect.
