With the acceleration of the global economic integration, the internationalengineering contract projects are continuously growing and developing all over theworld. Especially in China, when many Large and medium-sized constructionenterprises contracts overseas projects on a large scale, they will inevitably face thedifferent cultures of different countries. Without sufficient attention and properlyresolved, it often leads in conflicts among our project managers and the host countrygovernment departments, organizations and local employees, which may furthertransform to cross-culture risks that will interfere and obstruct the proceeding, even leadin the failure of the project. At present, the study in our country on the cross-culturalrisk management of transnational engineering project is still very weak, and hasn’tformed a perfect theoretical system and framework which is suitable for China’s currentsituation. So the effective measures to ensure maximum success of transnationalengineering project is constant research on cross-cultural risk management, and toestablish the perfect cross-cultural risk management system.Firstly, based on the related domestic and abroad research literature, the paper’sfirst chapter introduces the cross-cultural risk management research of the transnationalengineering project, gives the purpose and significance of the research clearly, and putforward the research methods and research design.Secondly, this paper’s second chapter defines the related concepts, and describesthe theoretical support of the cross-cultural risk management of transnationalengineering project from project management theory, cross-cultural management theory,and risk management theory.Then, the third chapter gives the detailed description of the cross-cultural risk’sformation process, characteristics, types, forms and the consequences in transnationalengineering project, and puts forward the scientific and practical framework ofcross-cultural risk management of transnational engineering project.Next, based on the analysis of the risk factors in the previous chapter, the fourthchapter establishes the risk index system and evaluation model, and applies ISM modeland the fuzzy AHP analysis evaluation model in actual project case to divide the riskfactors hierarchically and get comprehensive evaluation. These verify the scientificvalidity of the risk index system and evaluation model.Finally, this paper proposes three effective measures to guard against cross-culturalrisk of the transnational engineering project, and gives a summary and outlook. From a cross-cultural perspective, the paper explores the culture differences andcross-cultural risks comprehensively and systematically with the actual project case,targeting some innovations and breakthroughs, providing some theoretical significanceand practical value for our participation in transnational engineering project in thefuture.
