| Islands play an important role in society and economicdevelopment. They are not only the frontier defense of one country,but also the base of marine development. In this thesis, under theguidance of theory of sustainable development, in accordancewithscientific principle, the principle of development and protection,operability principle, integrity principle and the principle of hierarchy,with reference to the evaluation indicator of sustainable development,a research is conducted form four different aspects of Weizhou Island,such as natural resources system, economic developmentsystem, ecological environment system and social andintellectual system, to make an overall and objective evaluation ofthe sustainable development capacity of Weizhou Island.By the research over the evaluation methods both home and abroad,this thesis applies the AHP Methodand Fuzzy Comprehensive EvaluationIndex Method on the research ofthe main factors, the influence of the sustainable developmentcapacity, and the data of Weizhou Island. By use of the method ofhierarchy, a detailed analysis is made on four aspects of theisland: resources support system, environmental system, economicdevelopment support system, and social andintellectual system. Itdraws such a conclusion, that is, the overallsustainabledevelopment capacity of Weizhou Island is fine. To carry out thecomprehensive evaluation of the sustainable development, it’s proposedto raise the environmental awareness among residents, strengthenenvironmental regulations propaganda, and carry out therationalexploitation of groundwater.To improve the use efficiency, we can conduct surveys andtechnology supervision, control the discharge ofsewage, andstrengthen waste water recycling and water storageproject. Besides, the rapid and healthy development of the marineeconomy can bepromoted by developing fish farming diversification, broadening the domestic market, developing theisland aquaculture and promoting island tourism. |
