Since the inception of21stcentury, China’s cement industry has maintained rapidprogress which powered by booming Chinese economy. Statistics indicate China hasbeen listed as top cement producer and consumer worldwide since2005. Tremendousopportunities lures foreign cement magnates to enter into Chinese cement market, fuelshomogeneous competition become fiercer and cement players face enormous pressure andchallenge.This thesis is concentrated on HX Cement Co., Ltd (hereinafter abbreviated as HXcement) as object of study to use theories and methodologies learned in the MBA programto analyze long-and-mid-term strategy and execution plan. Michael Port’s Five-Forcemodel,PEST,core competitiveness and factor evaluation matrix methodologies areintroduced to analyze internal and external situations, internal resources, corecompetitiveness in a quantitative way. At last, SWOT is employed to match optimalstrategy choice to identify overall strategy, competitive strategy and functional strategy.To make afore-said strategies put into place, implementation plan is also developed forbetter strategy execution accordingly. The thesis findings include combined costleadership and forward integration strategy should be best appropriate for HX to leverageits own competitive edges and differentiate from other traditional cement players as part ofefforts to become model business in the industry.
