The Reflection And Countermeasure Of Accelerating Building The Sanmen Bay Economic Zone

Sanmen Bay, like an uncarved jade decorating the East China Sea, is governed bySanmen County of Taizhou City and Ninghai County, Xiangshan county of Ningbo City.It’s40kilometers long with Zhangjie, Liyang, Minggang, Yishi, Yuexi, Shipu, Hepu,Gaotang, Xiaotang, Tingtang ten towns lying on the north coast and Sanmen County onthe south coast. Compared with other bay economic zones, Sanmen Bay has beendeveloping slowly. Nevertheless, historically there were several proposals to developSanmen Bay from Qing Dynasty to the period of Republic China. But eventually theproposals were abandoned due to war or other reasons. Now on the background ofregional integration, the three counties of Sanmen Bay region should take the opportunityof answering Zhejiang’s call of developing the marine economy, learn from each other,and collaborate together to make a leap in development. Therefore, the three counties ofthe two cities put forward a strategy of building the Sanmen Bay Economic zone, whichwould accelerate the development the Sanmen Bay region. This study is done bycollecting relevant information and doing research of Sanmen Bay region’s historybackground and actual economic condition. The reflection and countermeasure is putforward by analyzing the regional jurisdiction, infrastructure, etc.The purpose of thispaper is to propose targeted policies and measures of accelerating the development ofSanmen Bay region and demonstrate the feasibility of it, therefore it could be a referencefor local government and promote the economic development which would make SanmenBay region a bright pearl on the East China Sea.
