A Study On Agricultural Product Logistics In Thailand

In the age of economic globalization, Thailand having high dependence onforeign trade, According to2010’s GDP result, which accounted for61.1percents, itshows that international trade’s competitiveness become more intense. As you know,Thailand is a food hub’s country so the country’s economy is depending onagriculture products.Therefore; Logistic is a new impetus to the internationalecomonic development and social progress. International Logistics acting as abridge and tools of international trade and what we have to achieve is we mustminimize its operating costs.The purpose of this thesis is to understand at this stage the situation of Thaiagricultural products logistics in order to prepare a new staretegy for theimprovement. The objective of the thesis is to use Thailand as a target and applyinga SWOT analysis which is used for qualitative analysis of the agricultural productlogistics and conducted a comprehensive analysis of the advantages of Thaiagricultural products by evaluating through logistics, weaknesses, opportunities andthreats. Secondly, compare the Thai agricultural products logistics with the threecountries (USA, Japan and China). Finally, analyse the international competitivenessin order to put forward the suggestions to enhance the competitiveness of Thaiagricultural products logistics.The results shows that Thai agricultural logistics in the international market iscompetitiveness but the logistics costs of agricultural products is still relatively highdue to the increase of the competitors in country’s competitiveness, which makes thelogistics market share of Thai agricultural products become lesser and agriculturalproducts export volume is also getting lower. The competitiveness of Thaiagricultural products logistics is facing threats from all sides, especially agriculturalproducts logistics risk, trade barriers threat. In order to deal with this problem, itrequires the cooperation between government and enterprises in Thailand, attentionto logistics personnel to improve the logistics technology in order to improve theiragricultural products logistics.
