Research On The Supply And Demand Docking Of Agricultural Technology Based On Farmers’ Perspective

Agricultural technology extension works as a bridge between ruralhouseholds and agricultural education, science&technology, as wellextension departments. As one of the Green Box policies of WTO toencourage investment, many countries and governments have consideredagricultural extension as the important way to improve agriculturalproductivity.Since the reform and opening up, agricultural technology extension hasexperienced rapid development, and there has been substantial improvementin agricultural irrigation, mechanization and agricultural information. Thereis also fast growth in land output, resource utilization and labor productivity.However, the analysis of current situation of agricultural technologyextension indicates that the government-led public extension only cannot meet the requirement of agricultural development. To better satisfy theneeds of rural households, promote agricultural science&technology, anddevelop sustainable agriculture, it is necessary to establish a linkage systemthat matches the demand of agricultural development and rural households onthe one hand, and the supply of agricultural technology extension services onthe other.By using different methods such as field survey, group discussion andinterview, this paper takes Jiang an county of Rugao city in Jiangsu provinceas a case to carry out the research. It has studied the current demand andsupply situation of agricultural technology extension, before analyzed theproblem of ineffective linkage. The findings of this paper suggest that inorder to further improve the personal quality of rural individuals, there is aneed to establish multiple systems for agricultural technology extension andservice organizations so as to set up an effective link between agriculturaltechnology extension supply and demand from the perspective of ruralhouseholds.
