The Study On The City Competitiveness Of The Nanchang-jiujiang Integration Urban Agglomerations

In the context of the integration of the Nanchang-Jiujiang, the more study on the citycompetitiveness on the Nanchang-Jiujiang integration can help us master the trend of the citycompetitiveness and understand the factors affecting the competitiveness of the citydevelopment. It is necessary to promote the overall development of the Nanchang-Jiujiangregion.In this paper, in order to carry on the study on the city competitiveness on theNanchang-Jiujiang integration urban agglomerations, we construct the urban competitivenessindex system by selecting indicators about six aspects including the economic developmentcompetitiveness, the industrial structure competitiveness, the social developmentcompetitiveness, the infrastructure competitiveness, the opening up competitiveness and theenvironment competitive, a total of27indicators. Based on the data from2003to2013related indicators about the city competitiveness on the Nanchang-Jiujiang integration urbanagglomerations, we study the trend of the city competitiveness on the Nanchang-Jiujiangintegration urban agglomerations over the11-year period with the use of the descriptivestatistics, the entropy, the gray correlation analysis and the principal component analysis. Wealso analyze the factors affecting the competitiveness of urban development and determine thelevels of urban competitiveness evaluation index weights.The main conclusions of this paper:(1) Nanchang and Jiujiang is the strongest area ofthe province’s economic development, the Nanchang-Jiujiang integration strategy help toimprove the level of economic development, and make the Nanchang-Jiujiang economic zonemore competitive.(2) Among the six first-level indicators in the index system of the urbanagglomerations city competitiveness, the continueing development of the social economic topromote social and economic is the most important force to improve the level of city’scompetitiveness. The level of opening up, the industrial structure and the urban infrastructureare the important factors of the city competitiveness. The social development playes animportant role in the competitiveness of the city. Besides, the environment is becoming moreand more important for the competitiveness of the city.(3) Through the gray correlationanalysis, we can find that during the decade from2003to2012, the city competitiveness ofthe Nanchang-Jiujiang urban agglomerations is concerned with the level of economicdevelopment, the level of industrial structure, the level of social development, infrastructure,opening-up and the environment was increasing all time on the whole, and the correlation ofthe urban competitiveness increased year by year. Besides, the city competitiveness of Nanchang-Jiujiang urban agglomerations continued to improve.(4) Through principalcomponent analysis, we can find that from2003to2013, the composite score of the citycompetitiveness of Nanchang-Jiujiang urban agglomerations has shown a steady upward trend.Especially, since the moment when the Nanchang-Jiujiang integration strategy started, theincreasing trend of the score has become more obvious, and the range of the increasing scorealso shows a rising trend. Finally, according to the results, we come up with some targetedsuggestions.
