Research On The Internationalization Path Selection Of Our Country Commercial Banks

At present, our country commercial bank is still at the primary stage of "going out", in the face of the international financial changing situation, It is particularly important to choose a suitable internationalization path. Due to specific structural differences in the historical factors and industry influence, our country state-owned commercial bank institution system still huge, while fierce competition between small and medium-sized commercial Banks. Our country commercial banks must begin to seek overseas development, participate in international competition, and one of the most intuitive form is enlarge institutions themselves. According to the current situation, the state-owned commercial banks are the main body of this strategy, and some domestic joint-stock commercial Banks are also stepping up the pace of overseas. But from the point of view the degree of diversification business scope is a little single, the overall level of profitability is not just as one wishes, compared with the large foreign commercial bank internationalization of breadth and depth, the internationalization of our commercial banks still has a long way to go.This paper based on the background of post-crisis era, governments have issued incentive policy to encourage the domestic commercial banks to go abroad, improve the competitiveness of the international market. First of all, reviewed the current research results at home and abroad, then pointed out the framework of this paper and research methods. Second, combined the basic theory of commercial bank internationalization path selection, the concept of the general situation of the internationalization path and path types, illustrates the pros and cons of the internationalization of commercial bank under different path. In addition, summarized the different internationalization path of motivation theory. Then from the historical evolution, the investment subject, location selection and the internationalization of the present stage our country commercial bank internationalization path to implement the present situation and problems existed. The fourth part lists the HSBC international success and the failure of RBS, summarized the experience and lessons in the process of overseas expansion. In this paper, to contrast the above analysis and empirical analysis concluded that our country commercial bank internationalization should be turned in cross-border m&a as the main way, supplemented by the new investment, and timely to carry out the strategic alliance of the joint venture model.
