With the increasingly fierce market competition, on the one hand, the customer orders show characteristics of much variety of items and little batch, on the other hand, those factors including oil natural gas, labor costs, the RMB exchange rate and tax adjustments lead to a rapid increase in the operating costs, there is an increasing concern about the quality of products and services, speed and cost. Currently more and more Chinese enterprises are trying to strive to explore to improve their operation and management by the Lean Six Sigma, but few of them can achieve it. There are many reasons, including how to effectively implement Lean Six Sigma project, which is difficult problem for many enterprises. This paper attempts to explore suitable methods for Chinese manufacturing enterprises in the implementation of the Lean Six Sigma project through studying the theory of Lean Six Sigma as well as making a detailed analysis to the key steps and issues of C Company Lean Six Sigma manufacturing project, so as to provide guidance in theory and application for domestic manufacturing enterprises.Lean Production and Six Sigma come from different cultural backgrounds, but they are both innovative approaches to business striving for perfection and continuous improving. The advantage of lean production is working on waste in order to create a better flow within the customer’s defined value stream and encourages everyone to improve continuously under the system in small group activities. However, lean production defines the defect lack of using quantitative statistical methods. Whereas the advantage of Six Sigma is working on variation in order to reduce the cost of poor quality and striving for the zero defect. Six Sigma is more focused on project management with DMAIC and DMADV techniques. However, Six Sigma lacks of methods and tools shortening the cycle and significantly improving the process speed. Obviously their difference are complementary to each other, hence the creation of the idea of their combination became inevitable.Lean Six Sigma could help an enterprise or firm achieve huge competitive power in the market, but there are many difficulties we may encounter in the process of its introduction and operation, If some key elements were missing, the business may well go through arduous journey. As for the example this paper gives, Company C introducing Lean Six Sigma is not successful at first stage of operation, and even this directly leads to the change of top management of company. What is more, Many employees in the firm lost confidence in Lean Six Sigma, they thought that it wasted their sums of energy and time, it was not worth to carry it out. This paper profoundly analyses the failure mode and reason during first launch of project, and finds the solution to make some improvement actions, and introduces the case how Company C finally comes to the top of Lean Six Sigma via careful plan, sound base, stable step of project. This paper is to use qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis tools based on Lean Six Sigma interrelated theory to study Company C’s manufacturing system, and then to improve their system so as to improve the production efficiency, cost reduction, product qualities and customer’s satisfaction and further to improve their abilities of competition in the market.
