Under today’s competitive global semiconductor manufacturing industry, semiconductor manufacturers must keep a keen insight into the market, and deal it with scientific methods. The best way to deal with these changes in this market is developing new products. To maintain competitive advantages, the manufacturers should continue to develop new technologies into the market. However, the high failure rate of new product introduction and the long period often plagued many manufacturing enterprises, especially large multinational manufacturing companies. Thus, shorten new product introduction cycle, reduce new product introduction costs and improve the performance of new product introduction, have become one of the research hotspots in the manufacturing industry.This thesis collects the the major theories and current research literature on the new product introduction field, and introtuct the Lean Six Sigma improvement, the Design for Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma theory’s using process in the new product introduction projects. Base on these theories and the H Company’s practice, this paper uses the Lean Six Sigma improvement to definite, analyse, measure, improve and summary the whole improvement for the new product introduction. The improvement mesurements have there parts: First, improve the new product process to shorten the cycle time; second, enrich the content of new product introduction to improve the performance of new product introduction; third, use the Design for Six Sigma’s tools to reduce the new product introduction project’s cost. Apply these improvements into the H Company’s new product introduction projects, and collect the improment data to compare with the former data to test and verify the mesurement’s effectiveness.This paper describes the specific application of tools and methods of Six Sigma theory, and provides a theoretical framework to guide the semiconductor manufacturing to improve the effectiveness of new product introduction projects.
