A Study On The Interrelation Between Transportion And Regional Economy Development

Transport plays an important role in our daily life of study and working, it is the basis of economic production and development, the link among the regions, and the catalyst of social progress. There has been a delicate relationship between the regional economy and transport, the regional economic development provides clear goals and power for the transportation system. The proposed West Development Strategy attracts a large number of population, logistics, information flow, capital flow flowing in Sichuan Province, which enhance its geographical advantages. While this provides a good foundation conditions for the economic development and transportation construction in Sichuan Province, it also brings great challenge at the same time. In this context, the research of the relationship between transportation and regional economic will contribute to the understanding of the importance of transport development in regional economy, so as to promote the coordinated development of transport and regional economy in practice, also provide some reference for the development of other regions.This paper takes Sichuan Province as an example, analyze the two aspects of the mutual promotion relationship between its transport development and regional economic development based on the econometrics theory. The econometric software Eviews6.0 is used to carry out the co-integration analysis of relevant indicators and Granger causality test for the the mechanism analysis of the mutual promotion relationship and the judgement of their development degree. The results show that there is a long-term stable equilibrium relationship between transportation and regional economy, namely the existence of mutual promotion and support effects between the transportation and regional economy, but the influence magnitude is different. The rapid development of regional economy of Sichuan Province has brought enormous transportation demand, investment increment in fixed assets, and the improvement of the regional road network, which provides good opportunities to the development of the transport industry. However, compared to the fast-growing economy, the transportation industry development is still relatively slow. The modernization of the integrated transport system is inadequate, which have led to the increase of transport costs, lower transport efficiency, and the weakening of the regional advantage, thereby the promotion effect to regional economic development is not significant. Therefore, Sichuan Province should make further efforts to accelerate the upgrading and optimization process of the transportation industry.
