Company D is a third party logistics which provides logistics service to a manufacturer. This manufacture is in a transition period. For normal work load and assembly of new production line, plant need a lot of parts and this requirement is irregular, it all brings a lot of trouble for logistics work. A lot of complaints come to company D. So company D analysis these complaints, and find the key point of them. They use ABC Classification method and analysis the relation between ordering time and taking picking up time to find a rule for daily logistics operation. Based on this, they optimize daily logistics operation. This change bring good results, like reducing the complaints from customer, establishing a very new company image ect. There is some innovation points in optimization method and thought for this case. In the past, Activity Based Classification is often used in the inventory control, the central idea of it is to classify different parts, and use different method in daily management of inventory. In this case, Activity Based Classification is used in analysis delivery parts, they change an indicator to fit with. It also help to classify the delivery parts into three levels, A, B and C, and use different management method to them. They changed C parts the storage area from warehouse to factory in order to reduce the delivery time and workload. For the thought, company D try to find the extra work in the logistics, reduce them, make them to moderate.
