An Evaluation Research On Shanxi Sustainable Development Ability Based On PCA And DEA Model

Since the 1980s, the concept of sustainable development is comprehensively expounded, human pay more attention to environmental sustainable harmonious development between human and nature, and sustainable development problem is the focus of the research in the world today.As a new development concept, sustainable development must be implemented to the area. Many disciplines, such as the geography, ecology, economics, sociology, management science and philosophy and so on, pay close attention to regional sustainable development. Sustainable development has become the only way for human out of the woods.According to the actual situation of Shanxi Province, the paper established the evaluation index system of sustainable development ability of Shanxi Province.Using PCA and DEA to evaluate the change trend of the Shanxi sustainable development ability from2003 to 2012.This process is expect to provide a reference for future sustainable development in Shanxi Province. The following conclusions can be summarized:(1) In Shanxi Province, labour and capital inputs composite index. resource consumption composite index、environmental pollution composite index、economic development composite index、social development composite index and population development composite index are rising year by year from 2000 to 2010. Shanxi Province should further improve the efficiency of resource utilization, the transformation of the pattern of economic development.(2) The evaluation based on DEA shows that the results of 2005、2007、 2008、2009、2011 are effective, and the results of 2002、2003、2004、2006、 2010 are not. This states that Shanxi Province have noticed the coordinated development of society-economy-natural system, and try to improve the efficiency of input and output.(3)The analysis of the DEA evaluation of 6 different schemes show that the contributions of environmental factors to the sustainable development, of Shanxi Province is limited, so should further strengthen the environmental regulation.(4) Recommendations of Shanxi Province’s sustainable development of eco-economic system can be proposed:1)increase capital investment, strengthen environmental pollution control.2)accelerate the process of industrial structure adjustment.3)vigorously promote clean production and the development of circular economy.4)proper control of population, improve population quality.
