Since thirty years of reform and opening up, the economy has made a spurt of progress. The income level of residents has different levels of differentiation and the income gap is more and more obvious. The income gap between different industries has been opened, especially the expansion of income gap between monopoly industries and non-monopoly industries. Widening income gap has caused widespread dissatisfaction in our society. The high income of the monopoly industry has also been questioned. Under this background, this paper gives the empirical study on the factors that cause the income gap.Firstly we introduce the current academic circles on the latest research results relevant to income distribution gaps. Then the concepts related to the industry and the theory of income distribution field is briefly introduced. Secondly, this paper selects related data in industries from 2007~2011 and find that the income gap among industries in China is increasing. Through the analysis of enterprise management cost, it gives the quantitative description of invisible income. It selects the air-transport industry and the medicine manufacturing industry as the representative of the monopoly and non-monopoly industry to prove that monopoly factor is the main reason for the industry income distribution gap, which accounts for more than 75%. The contribution of the human capital to the income gap between industries is very small. The foreign investment proportion and the cost income rate have certain contribution to the income gap. Finally, according to the results of empirical research, combined with the current situation of China, we put forward the relevant four policy suggestion such as to establish a competition mechanism, to strengthen the construction of antitrust authorities, to supervise the profit distribution and to improve the tax control system. In this paper, we use the economics, statistics, management and econometrics methods to study the income gap between the monopoly and non-monopoly industries and the results are basically in line with expectations.
