| As the inevitable result of industrialization and urbanization and the driving force of urban economic development, the floating population is more and more attention. Based on the 2007 CHIP survey data, this article researches the income of floating population from two aspects. In the first aspect, migrants and urban residents’ income gap is the research object. The purpose is to find out various factors affecting the income gap and discuss the influencing mechanism of these factors. The important methods are the Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition, the Cotton decomposition and quantile decomposition. The second aspect analyzes the group of the floating population separately. First of all, according to the monthly salary income, it layers three disparate income stratification of the floating population. Then according to the single factor analysis method, it analyses the factors having significant effect on the income level. The final, through multinomial Logistic regression model, the paper studies the probability for floating population into the different income stratifications. The purpose of these two parts is to investigate the causes leading to the floating population’s lower income and develop effective measures to increase their income.Through these two aspects of empirical research, this paper draws the following conclusions:the labor time of floating population is much longer than urban residents, but their income is far lower; There is still a gender discrimination in employment market, the opportunity for male to enter the high income level is bigger than women, but the study finds that the problem has improved in the high income level; For floating population, education is the important means to seek a higher income and narrow the income gap with urban residents; The stability, train and work experience can help the floating population enter into the high income leyel; The influence of industry distribution and professional types is not significant for floating population, but it is an important cause of the income gap between floating population and urban residents, the floating population may face industry discrimination and employment discrimination. According to these conclusions, this paper argues that the government and enterprises should strengthen the continuing education and training of the floating population. At the same time, the government should strengthen rules and regulations, give the floating population the fair employment opportunities and guarantee their income should be. |
